Challenge

Generate awareness and engagement with the premiering film Urban Myths. Films with diverse casts enjoy the highest median global box office and the highest median return on investment (Ralph J. Bunche Center). For the top 100 grossing films of 2017, women represented: 8% of directors, 10% of writers, 2% of cinematographers, 24% of producers, 14% of editors (Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film).

Solution

Employ a social media campaign, #JoinTheTribe, to attract attention, engage an audience, and establish presence for Urban Myths. Bring this independent film to the scene via Film Festivals, and engage philanthropic partnerships to present the film in key markets—Michigan and Arizona. Focus on the powerful presence of Kim Marie — woman Writer, Producer, Director.

Result

Urban Myths premiered at independent film festivals where it received attention and awards, and in philanthropic partnerships for exclusive fundraising events in key markets—MI where the movie was filmed and AZ where the film was finished—generating interest for distribution while raising awareness for related causes. The #JoinTheTribe engaged fans and collaborations.

 

Women account for 52% of moviegoers (MPAA 2016).
